Q&A
How long will it take to get my mirror?
We carry mirrors from many different manufacturers and importers . Some pieces ship directly from the manufacturer, and some ship from our own warehouses. Average delivery time is 2-3 weeks. If it will take substantially longer, we will call to obtain your approval. Expedited shipping is usually available for a surcharge. Please call or email for a quote. We'll do our best to meet any special delivery requirements you may have--just let us know what they are.

If shipping within the Continental USA is free, why is there a "Shipping Charges Pending" box on my order form?
Standard shipping via insured Truck or Ground is free within the Continental USA. However, some customers need expedited shipping, or want their mirror shipped outside the USA. For those services, there is a surcharge, and it's added in the "Pending Charges" window. Shipping charges will never be added without your request and advance approval.

How do I know what size mirror to choose?
As with most decorating questions, the correct choice is the one that best meets your personal taste and needs. But as a guideline, we suggest ordering a mirror that's about two-thirds the width of the object it hangs above. For example, if your fireplace mantle is 60 inches wide, you might want to look at mirrors in a 40-50 inch width. You'll also want to consider the scale of the room and its furnishings. If your mirror will hang above a substantial piece of furniture, such as a buffet or large sofa, you'll probably want to go with a slightly larger mirror. If the mirror's going above a smaller piece such as a delicately scaled console table, try a slightly smaller mirror. Use blue painter's masking tape to rough out the size and shape of the mirrors you're considering--you can easily see the actual space the mirror will occupy. If you need further advice, please call or email photos of your space--we're always happy to discuss various options with our customers.

What if my mirror arrives damaged?
Our mirrors are always shipped insured. Please immediately open and inspect your mirror, and report damage to us with 7 days. We'll repair or replace it as quickly as possible. For Truck deliveries: If your driver cannot wait for you to open and inspect the mirror, sign the airbill or bill of lading with the phrase "subject to inspection for hidden damage" below your signature.

Can I exchange or return a mirror?
We have a standard 2 week return/exchange policy, explained in detail on our "Company" page. Please save all packing materials until you are sure you like the mirror--that makes returns or exchanges easier.

Do you charge a re-stocking fee if I return or exchange a mirror?
NEVER!

We want a Venetian mirror. What's the difference between a Venetian constructed with screws and a Venetian with glass that's glued on?
The hallmark of a well-made Venetian is screwed construction. That means each piece of glass is hand-etched, beveled and attached to the wood backing with a tiny screw, which is then covered by a clear rosette cover. The wood backing of any Venetian expands and contracts with charges in humidity levels in your home. If glass is glued to wood, it can develop stress cracks or pop off. Screwed construction also makes repairs easy--if a piece is damaged, just unscrew it, trace the outline, and fax the tracing to us at 516-767-7126. We'll have a new piece re-cut for you. We will not ever sell you a glued Venetian mirror!

What's the best way to clean my new mirror?
There are many good glass sprays available--just remember to spray the liquid ON THE CLOTH FIRST, not on the glass. You don't want the cleaner running down behind the frame--that can eventually cause the frame or finish to deteriorate.

Some of your mirrors are photographed without glass. Will a mirror be inserted before it ships?
Yes. Some mirrors are photographed without glass because the manufacturer believes it shows off the frame better.
